| | Armed with a semi-decent camera on my phone, I'm now able to indulge my food photographer desires. Now only if I could just always remember to take pictures of food before eating it!
This is a hodgepodge of food photos, nothing spectacular really, but to better define them I guess I'll give a bullet rundown...

I have this little dashboard widget, Today in History, which I love for the facts and trivia that I pick up from it daily. Sounds geeky, I know. Anyway, when I browse through it, most facts I read are birthdays of important people or about global/world events.
But today, February 4, the little tidbit I found was closer to home. Because on this day in 1899, Emilio Aguinaldo started the fight for independence against the Americans. Can't help but feel a wee pit patriotic. In this time of uncertainty, it feels good to be reminded of the greatness of the Filipino.
Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Woohoo!
| | The most difficult and challenging part of our Banaue-Sagada adventure. Batad is a remote town in Ifugao, just an hour's drive away from Banaue. What makes this town special is how difficult it is to get to. It takes about 45-minute hike down the mountain just to reach the town. The hike is quite challenging since you're almost always flanked by ravines. But reaching the town, you're rewarded with a wonderful view of unspoilt rice terraces made of stone and soil. I think a travel book even likened it to an amphitheater.
Another beauty of the town is Tappia Falls. It's about a 2-hour hike from the town proper. Challenging, yes, but rewarding in the sense that you will pass through the rice terraces and see the unspoilt beauty of the town. |
